Chinese Winter Fest (Winter Solstice)

Today is Chinese Winter Fest, or in Mandarin "冬至". It means "The Extreme of Winter". According to Chinese culture, this is the day where every family members gather together for dinner. Most families will cook delicious dishes. Some Chinese people will eat dumpling soup on this day; saying doing so will keep them from frost in the upcoming winter. In other places, people also eat tangyuan 湯圓, a kind of stuffed small dumpling ball made of glutinous rice flour cooked in a sweet soup. Happy Winter Fest! =)
