According to Wikipedia, Antioxidants are molecules that slow or prevent the oxidation of other chemicals. Oxidation is a redox chemical reaction that transfers electrons from a substance to an oxidizing agent.

Antioxidants protect the body from wear and tear, help the immune system and strengthen the make-up of muscles, bones and skin. The more antioxidants present in the body, the less damage free radicals can cause.
